How to find the Nodes of the Moon in the birth chart

To find your Nodes of the Moon, you’ll need your astrological birth chart. If you don’t already have one, you can generate a free chart online using your birth date, time, and place. Look for the symbols of the North Node (☊) and South Node (☋) in your chart. They are always directly opposite each other, forming an axis between two signs and houses.
The sign of the North Node shows the qualities you’re growing toward in this life, while the South Node reflects familiar patterns or past tendencies. If you only see the North Node in your chart, simply look to the opposite sign and house to locate your South Node. They are, by definition 180° apart.
Sometimes astrologers use different names for the Nodes.
- The North Node is sometimes called Ascending Node, Caput Draconis (the head of the Dragon), Rahu
- The South Node is sometimes called Descending Node, Cauda Draconis (the tail of the Dragon), Ketu
